What makes Airbnb, Apple, and ZocDoc so successful? They’ve gone through periods of losing money, they’ve faced social scrutiny at times, and their approach to the market are all very different. What they do have in common is that they are companies who have embraced vulnerability to better connect with their audiences.

In a world introducing more and more tools every day built around connecting with others, it somehow seems harder to make genuine connections with people. We can all tweet, throw up a funny Facebook post, or have LinkedIn share an informative blogpost -- but why are we building meaningful relationships with our audience?
